First transfer is over?!
The flowers on the temple grounds are UNREAL
May 11, 2021
Hiya, friends and family!!
I hope everyone had an amazing week! We got news about transfers last night and I'll be staying here in Chorley with Sister Kis!! SADLY Sister Shen is leaving us to go to Liverpool. I'm going to miss her so much, but I already have plans to visit the land of the Beatles one of these p-days, so I'll get to see her before her mission ends.
One highlight of my week was definitely going to the Preston temple! The Hansen's, a sweet senior couple in the mission, invited us to do baptisms with them and bring family names. I've really come to appreciate what a blessing it is to have so much of my family history completed. My companions are both converts and do all of their family history work themselves - they are amazing! They were each able to baptize their grandparents/great- grandparents which was so special. Anyways, the day before we went to the temple we had a lesson that left me feeling pretty discouraged. It's so sad when all you want is to help others feel the love of Jesus Christ, but they don't really want to listen I was still feeling a bit discouraged when we arrived at the temple Friday morning, but, as always, being in the temple filled me with peace. I felt like Heavenly Father had welcomed me into His house exactly at my moment of need to give me the encouragement and strength I needed to continue doing His work!
The other highlight of my week was calling my mama on Sunday!! I'm so grateful for her unconditional love. I miss her so much, but I'm comforted in knowing that I'm here on a mission so that I can help others live with their moms (and families) for eternity! In his talk "Behold Thy Mother" Elder Holland said, "Maternal love has to be divine. There is no other explanation for it. What mothers do is an essential element of Christ’s work." Thank you to all the moms who have loved me and helped me become who I am.
Okay I also have to share this quick story about an elderly man in our ward... he's 87 years old and he keeps Joseph Smith pamphlets in the pocket of his walker. Every week, the elder's quorum president drives him to a park where he passes them out for hours. He's passed out thousands of them over the years! When we met this legend, he pulled out one of the pamphlets and said, pointing to Joseph Smith, "I love this man." Absolute missionary goals.
Anyways, I love you all SO much! Thanks for your constant love and support.
Choose faith!
